Review
Overall, this is a great quality dog food with natural flavors for your beloved furry friend. There are specific ingredients that are left out of the recipes intentionally to help those dogs who suffer from specific illness, which is amazing. Dogs and owners are very pleased with the ingredients that are used in the recipes for Simply Nourish dog food, and rightfully so! The ingredients are quite good and the humans love that the ingredients are healthy for their doggies!
Pros
Easy to Digest
Many customers reported that dogs that have had or are having stomach and digestive issues would suffer less upset stomachs (gas, vomit, diarrhea, etc.) with this quality pet food. This is great news and it means that the ingredients that are being included/excluded are the right ones for that particular formula.
Perfect for Sensitive Skin
Every customer who bought Simply Nourish Dog Food for their puppies said the puppies would normally have some kind of skin/coat issue. Customers reported seeing and feeling noticeable improvements on their skin/coat, which is a big deal to those who suffer day in and day out with skin issues.
Ideal Ingredients for Specific Medical Conditions
Customers were not only so happy that there was a grain-free recipe out there for Simply Nourish and they were even happier when they found out that some of the ingredients were left out, as well, because it meant that there was money for treatment/cure/etc.
Cons
Taste
Dogs that reportedly ate plenty of this pet food in the recent years suddenly wouldn’t touch their food bowls, according to their owners. Simply Nourish Dog Food came out with a new formula and suddenly dogs started to disapprove.
Availability
Simply Nourish Dog Food is only available at PetSmart currently. This could cause an availability issue if the customer doesn’t live close to a PetSmart. Although you can order online, some customers reported that when they tried to order online, the product was out of stock and not available for a few weeks.

Ingredients Analysis
The first ingredient listed on the ingredients list is meat (chicken, lamb, etc.), which does seem like a good thing. However, once this meat is processed, the nutritional value decreases due to the loss of key nutrients. There is meat meal (chicken meal, lamb meal, etc.) listed as the second ingredient which does provide a great amount of protein for your pup.
One of the next ingredients is oatmeal (can be gluten-free depending on the type of oatmeal). This is a whole grain—a well-known allergen for most pups. Most of the recipes include other whole grains like brown rice which could cause skin sensitivity or digestive issues for your pup. Other ingredients include things like tomato pomace, chicken meal, sunflower oil, and Chicory root, as well as a number of supplements like folic acid and calcium carbonate.
Here’s a really useful video on how to read your dog food label.
Recall History
There are no recalls for Simply Nourish Dog Food listed on the FDA website.
Conclusion
Reviews on Simply Nourish Dog Food prove that this is a good choice for your pup, no matter the stage of life. With natural ingredients like chicken, salmon, and lamb, your dog will surely enjoy this hearty meal every day. While there are some ingredients that may be less than ideal (whole grain and wheat), this is something to take into consideration but not use a reason to not try it out with your dog. While some dog foods do cause allergies to flare due to the inclusion of whole grains and wheat, it is important to note that each dog food is different and will affect your pup differently! Give Simply Nourish Dog Food a try—your pooch will thank you.

I purchased a bag of simply nourish dog food lamb and rice formula and it was full of yellow worm like maggots that were alive and in cocoon looking webs inside the bag. The bag had not been tempered with and was unopened. I’m a holistic nutritionist and this shows that the meat was not cooked properly in the creation of this dog food.
Have you changed the chicken, peas with potatoes puppy food? She was eating fine and now she doesn’t want to eat it. I don’t want to try it with different food because I tried that and they said That I could give it to her right away because it wouldn’t upset her stomach, but it did in a big way. You have to give it to them like a new food even though it is the same brand. I saw a different person the second time and they told me I had to treat it like I was giving her a different brand.
I just opened a can of Simply Nourish Beef Stew and it had pieces of cardboard box, with lettering in it.
Wondering about how this happened. My dog loves this food but ……..is this listed in ingredients?
I took a picture but don’t know how to include it in this email..
this could very well happen because this food is made in Thailand it is printed right on the label. i believe their quality control is not like USA based dog food. By reading the comments regarding this food, i am scared to use it even though my dogs like it. This company needs to revamp their quality control department and also start making ALL their food in the USA. There is no excuse for companies selling bad dog and cat food.
The dry food is made in Utah, Washington, and Pennsylvania.
Is the canned food still made in Thailand?
I opened a bag and did not know it had maggots live and dead maggots all in it. I have a visual issue and I fed it to my service dog now my service dog is at the emergency vet throwing up constantly and the Vets not sure he we’ll make it because of the live and dead maggots in the dog food. So now this company may have cost me my life because it doesn’t want to clean up its manufacturing Department
Did you purchase the food online, or in a Petsmart store?
tried meal toppers-gravy with beef chunks-my 15 lb schnauzer was up all not pooping diarrhea!
I’ve been giving my dog Simply Nourish (chicken and potatoes, grain free) for six yrs now but mix it with a Tbsp of SN wet food and I have a healthy 9 yr old poodle. Fortunately for me I haven’t come across a bad batch and hope I never do because it will be the last bag of SN I ever buy.
I just bought a bag of simply noirish for my 2 year old German Shepherd…I was feeding him a popular Walmart brand…but after talking with an associate at Petsmart, I decided to give it a try…WOW!..is all I can say…see, when I would feed my dog a bowl of the other brand, it would sit there for hours before my Tripper would start to pick at it, when I first mixed in a 50/50 ratio of the simply noirish, he ate EVERYTHING in one sitting….I was so amazed that I had to video tape it , as my husband would not have believed me…now I’m feeling a little guilty for feeding him the cheaper brand…oh well, live and learn!
II have been using simply Nourish since my dog was a puppy. When I purchased a 5 pound bag of dog food my 4 pound container could not hold all the food. I just purchased a 5 pound bag of dog food, which the price has increased, and it did not fill up my 4 pound dog food container. This is a rip off, you changed the design of the bag and you are putting less dog food in the bag. I hope someone is really seeing this comment and correct this situation.
I have fed my 2 shih-tzu simply nourish for 10 years and they love it. One was very picky eater until i started the chicken dry, now will eat nothing else. The ingredient list impressed be because first ingredient was deboned chicken, not chicken meal or by products. Plus veggies/ blueberries. Never have gotten a bad bag as previous owners say. Will never feed another brand.
