I used the Seresto collar on my Chocolate Lab. She developed a problem with her liver & I was spending $150.00 a month on prescription meds for her liver but she kept testing as getting worse. I finally asked myself what we had changed that could have caused this~~THE COLLAR. I immediately removed the collar and 2 months later she tested so much better that I was able to stop the prescription meds and she has been fine ever since. Pesticides are dangerous to humans~~why are we so dumb as to put pesticides around the neck of our best friend?

My cocker spaniel has developed liver damage and is currently undergoing tests to see what can be done. I took off the collar immediately after the first diagnosis..she did begin eating normally after that.

Really you call them safe yea right. my 2 dogs both Cavachons 10 1/2 & 5 years old both died within 3 weeks of each other. They wore the collars for 1 month to the day, then on 6/6/19 they both had seizures 15 hours apart with vomiting & diahrea. the older one died 2 days later on 6/8/19 & the younger one died on 6/29/19. The younger on had muscle weakness issues, lethargy, loss of appetite, & neurological problems in the 3 weeks he died after the 1st one. So you try telling me they are safe to put on our pets.
Be very careful with this item my cats actually got a chemical burn on his neck . Poor baby was like crying. Took to vet cost me over $300.00 for two visits and medications

We also have 2 Cavachon puppies, 6 months. The 20 lb dog started with diarrhea turning bloody and vomiting. His brother was was ok. After 2200 dollars for an endoscopy finding nothing and some medication his stools got normal 3 days later the 22 lb brother stated vomit and diarrhea and blood. We asked the vet about the collar for the first dog we put on 1 week prior and they didn’t think it was that. Needless to say we removed the collars today, bathed them and shaved down their fur.
I have a 7 year old chocolate lab. She sleeps with her head on mine. I started getting sores on my scalp, I didn’t think it was related until 2 days ago. I was rubbing her heck and found a mass. I immediately threw the collar away. Stupid on my part thinking a collar that treats for 8 months couldn’t be bad. My scalp is already doing better but waiting for results on my lab. Don’t buy the collar. It has really bad side effects. My dog Kensington 9 years old gained a few pounds and we changed the collar to the larger size. After a month Of back and forth to the vet, my roommate decided to take the collar off and Kensi is back to normal. No more being lethargic, fatigued, tremors. After i putt the collar on het kept shaking his head but the next day everything was ok now after 2 weeks he has diaherria.and is vomiting. Im reslly confused. With this product. I dont want my fog to die.could this action be from the collar??
Ditto, we put a Seresto collar on our Great Pyr mix, several hours later he was completely lethargic then neurological, could barely stand, confused. My husband and I completely lost it wondering what was wrong – what did he get into? What was different? I then knew it had to be the collar. Cut if off immediately, took him to the 24 hr vet at 10 PM. Various diagnostics were done, all inconclusive. When I suggested the collar, she shrugged it off, said they are very safe, “we all use them.” I have no doubt but for our dog, we knew it was the collar and felt lucky that we figured it out. The next day he was perfectly fine and has been since. Scary to think if we had left it on him much longer how much more (irreversible) damage could have been done to him.

Oh really, I was wondering about buying one for my dog
An hour after we put a new collar on our 2 year old belgain malinois we went out. When we came home a few hours later we noticed he had an accident in the house which he never does. We played back video on the camera. We were horrified to see that he had a horrible seizure. He had bloodwork and an MRI which were all clear. Our friend who is a holistic vet said take the collar off and never use again. I really think it was the collar and so does she. We will have to wait and see what happens
I put this collar on my Year and half dog also was told safe two days later he couldn’t walk at all thought he was paralyzed ripped the collar off as that was the only new thing we did and he was fine…vet said report to e company being buyer but cannot find customer service #..
Put Seresto on my dog today around 10am. Tonight he was acting weird, jumped in bed with me, was drooling and hyper salivating, licking his lips and looked like he was going to vomit. I took the collar off him and he seems to be settling down though he is still restless. It has to be the collar, nothing else was different. What a waste of money. We have a 4 yo white german shepherd☺️. He has always wore a seresto since he was 8 wks old. Never noticed an issue. Last dall, he started licking his lips, and getting more aggressive towards other dogs occasionally. One nite he ate a bedroom sheet! Monday, april 6th he had a horrible seizure. Our vet checked him and thought it mignt he epilepsy. Last nite, he woke me and spent 1/2 hr licking the sheets/rug in a weird neurotic manner/lip licking, etc. I googled and found this and other similar stories. I took the collar off about an hr ago. This would be an easy fix if this is the issue
Yes the same thing happened with our dogs a rottweiler and German shepherd….very aggressive with each other…we finally figured it out when during the 3rd aggressive attack I ended up getting bit by my GS my husband and I were talking and we’ve had these dogs for 5 years and this didnt happen until we put the collars on them!!! Finally took the dog to the vet today and he’s got liver problem his blood work was up his numbers he’s on antibiotics some kind of infection hopefully a week of meds he will be feeling better ! I think you nailed it, your dog has a sensitive system. There are basically two formulas one is natural based the other isn’t. I’ve used these collars for years no issues, he just turned nine now having an issue. I tried everything on him, dabs didn’t work, bath stuff lasted about a day. People say o the pills are great. No the pills scare me, no way to flush it from their system if they have an issue making it a death sentence. I have a fairly effective natural product I make but he doesn’t like the smell and disappears if I pull it out for an application, it also doesn’t last really long but no critters while it’s working. I’m about to move hoping the new yard less infested with the little bastards.
My 9 yr old pit mix has worn this collar 2-3 seasons in his younger years. Put it on 2 days ago, started acting weird. Vomited once. Lethargic. Seemed distant. Didnt want to play. (He plays all the time, constantly) was still eating but not the same pep in his step. Read these reviews. Immediately took it off. It seems like it doesnt translate well in senior dogs. Will update this post in a few days but am hoping that was the issue. Havent done anything different except the collar. I wonder if the ingredients or volume of chemicals has changed. I’ve had the collar on my red nosed boy for a few years no issues, he’s 9 now….from these comments so many are about older dogs wondering if perhaps it may be A-overload from long use or B-something that goes on in an aging dog’s metabolism. I’ve been very satisfied with the collars til now. It came on suddenly, he was fine then starting sleeping way more, not interested in food, didn’t seem to have much energy and wasn’t jumping up on the bed to sleep with me as he always does (I mean doesn’t miss a day always). Took the collar off gave him several baths with dawn dish soap (original blue) as professionals that deal with animals caught in oil slicks use this because it cuts oily messes off their skin without harming the animal). About 3 days later he’s back to his old self, can of favorite food gets hoovered again and jumping up on the bed and greeting me at the door etc. No product is perfect but if Bayer is getting a lot of reports of issues in older dogs they need to put that warning on the label. Now I need to find another flea treatment (he gets gone when I grab the can cheeky bugger knows what the can looks like right away).

Have a 7 lb Peek a Poo. Have used this collar since small puppy. Dog always licking lips but I put a new collar on and within two weeks have found three ticks embedded on dog. This dog does not go in woods only in backyard fenced in area. Does this collar not work on all dogs. Can’t find site for Soresto to call or write.
Two female yorkies, one 14 years old, the other one year old. 14 yr.old has had diarrhea with bloody stools for 5 days. She is disoriented in the am and walks very slowly as though she is drugged or half asleep. She’s now on metronidazole and canned food for gastro problems. I bought a Seresto collar for my German Shepherd to avoid fleas, ticks ! While nightly recommended ! I put it in him & waited, 4 days later he started limping ! While he is a big very active dog I thought maybe while running for the ball, running up or down the steps ? I didn’t know I rubbed it gave him an aspirin next day he seemed fine ! Yet on the 4 th day he became the total opposite of himself ( Kaos was not Kaos ) I mentioned it hubby told me leave him be maybe he’s having a bad day ! Last night was 1 of the scariest nights of my life Kaos did nothing barely ate, no running, no barking had a hard time getting on my bed ( which vines natural for him ) My instincts told me there was something wrong !

I put this on my 4 year old Australia Shepherd/Husky mix on April 21st around 7pm. I woke up to her vomiting and gagging at 4am the following morning 3 times back on back. Her appetite has greatly decreased. She has diarrhea and has been very Lethargic. I just adopted her April 18th, so I thought it was from the food change and stress from the new environment. So, I started giving her rice and chicken baby food to calm her stomach, as well as Imodium for the diarrhea. She was gobbling it down and now barely has touched her food the past few days. My boyfriend researched this collar today and took it off of her earlier today. I started researching tonight myself and found all of these horrible stories. I will post an update when she gets better. She’s going to the vet tomorrow for her first well check and because of this.

When this product killed 90% of the rats how could Bayer put it on the market. I am so disgusted by how little caring there is by some of the pet industry for their customers and their fur babies. Purchased the collar for Rat terrier and noticed after 48 hours he wouldn’t eat, drink and drink was gagging. Never had any of these symptoms before and we knew it was the collar. Never putting that thing on him again!!!
Has anyone noticed that their dogs eyes water, tear while wearing the collar? My Jack Russell has worn the collar for 4 yrs with no problem. I put a new one on her last yr. It seems her eyes started tearing excessively since then.

My two females had problems wearing the collar so I was out the 180 last time but my boxer/ Doberman did okay so I left it on him. This trip few weeks back he wouldn’t come up the stairs and had a hard time putting one foot in front of the other. Had a hard time getting on the couch too. I thought Lyme disease but I haven’t seen any ticks. Now I see other people’s dogs having problems walking. I just took it off also his hair is falling out like handfuls and I brush him regularly. Hello, just wanted to leave a comment here. I have an 80 pound red nose pit bull poochy, he’s approximately 9 years old now. I have used the seresto on him continuously for at least three years with zero problems. Just this last weekend he started sleeping way more than usual and showed no interest in food or very little, he was still drinking ok but the food went mostly untouched. I gave him a can of his favorite wet food (normally hoovered) it also went almost untouched so I knew he wasn’t feeling good and lastly he wasn’t jumping up on the bed to sleep next to me like he ALWAYS does. Nothing had changed recently such as food etc, some emotional upheavals (we’re moving) but nothing else. Remembering things I’ve read about the collars I decided to take it off and give him a good bath. If you’ve never heard a lot of professionals recommend the original blue dawn dish washing liquid as it does a good job of removing oils from the skin and also kills anything along the lines of fleas, ticks etc. First wash didn’t do much but after day two of no collar and two more baths more of the food bowl was emptied and he was jumping up on the bed again (more energy than he had for a few days for sure). I swear by these collars, he had developed an allergy to chicken based dry food but that’s pretty common so I was not blaming the collar for that one. I still have the collar wondering if I should call Bayer and offer to send it to them for testing. I’m just glad my boy is back to his old self but now I have to find another flea treatment he is not interested in having powders or spray he beats feet when I pull the stuff out (smart bugger knows what the can looks like right away).
Put the collar on my 13 year old Border Collie mix . She was gagging all the time. Took the collar off and she is fine! My Sheltie has one on and seems OK. Think I will take his off also, just in case it is bothering him also. I will go back to Advantage 2. Never had a problem with that!
My Havaton Lilly has worn Seresto Collars for the last 2 yrs. but this year something has changed, she got extremely ill,
Bloody stools, vomiting, and wouldn’t eat, took the collar off after a 350$ vet bill. Waited put the collar back on, and in 24 hours, she was vomiting and gagging again. Off comes the collar for good. Took the one off my Yorkie mix, she’s 3.5 pounds, not taking any chances.
After finding a few ticks, a couple weeks ago I put the Seresto collar on my 2.5 year old Cockapoo despite reading some concerning potential side effects. My sister had used one on her dog a for the past few years and didn’t have any problems with it so she recommended that I try it. Well, 14 hours after I put it on my dog, he had a seizure. As soon as I saw him seizing I removed the collar and threw it out. He had never had any neurological issues before this and he hasn’t had another seizure since. I took him to the vet soon after and she told me that she doesn’t think it was related to the collar because she’s never seen that reaction before. I have found many instances online of people having similar types of reactions in their dogs. I know that it was the collar that caused his seizure and plan on discussing it further with her at his next vet visit.
My first time using soresto. Put it on my black lab and two months ago and she losing hair losing gobs of hair bunches falling out. Tonight I noticed the area around her neck had no hair in the area of the collar. I took it off and it will not go on again.
i have 6 toy breeds and a cat ….its been 3 months of fleas and 2 of that on Frontline plus ……………..aerosols used on the entire house .. im desperate ! im planning to order this tomorrow ……………………………………………i havent read many positive comments and the rest are very alarming HELP
I have two large goldens and had a seriously flea problems. This collar was suggested to me and I tried them paid almost $60 a piece $120 for two collars .For the first three weeks everything seemed to work great then they started scratching a lot again and they had some small sores on them I assumed were from flea bites and now it’s been over a month and their bodies are completely covered with red bumps they scratch all the time .One has diarrhea and their personalities have changed so I’ve taken them off my dogs I’ve wasted $120. My dogs are worse off for them.
All this is all very interesting. We have a 12 year old GSD Collie Cross who has always been very healthy. We live on the edge of woods and have deer in the front garden and surrounding areas most of the year. So tick repellent has always been essential. Our dog has a seriously thick double coat ( which sheds continuously!) and previously I always used a pippett squeezed behind his shoulders into his skin etc, plus flea sprays and he wore a normal tick collar. Last summer, here in the UK, we had hardly any ticks. Last autumn, as we were still all in the house together thanks to Covid, I put a Seresto collar on him for the first time as they sounded good. I didn’t connect it but his poop started turning yellow and loose. I assumed it was his food, so started him on Tails.com with a special formula to suit him. It was no better. I took him to the vet and she gave him a massive worming dose and some probiotics . I had by now removed the collar, not because it had occurred to me to connect it to his digestive problems. I hadn’t thought to mention it to the vet. I was also using no spray as the ticks, I had assumed, were gone as it has been very cold and the deer rarely came round …. the dog was fine in himself until one night we heard a thump and I came downstairs to find he had been violently sick and looked as if he had had a seizure. He was conscious but unable to move. I stayed with him most of the night and by morning he was able to move. Although he never hoovers up rubbish or eats anything he shouldn’t I assumed he must have somehow eaten something that disagreed with him. But he was very quiet that day and declined his usual walk that he normally loves. Next day we took him for a very short walk on flat ground – not the rain- saturated woods and half way through he sagged and lay down as if he had run out of steam. It was quickly over and he was able to walk home, just as well as he weighs 40 kilos. I made an appointment and took him to the vet, she checked him all over and then I remembered the day before his big fall he had slipped on our glossy tiled kitchen floor which I had just washed. She decided he must have injured himself and prescribed painkillers and anti inflammatories and two weeks confinement. Well that wouldn’t suit our chap but I did give him a weeks worth of the pills and a week off walking but within 24 hours of seeing the vet he was was his usual self. Apart from the poop, which was still yellow and sometimes very loose and difficult to pick up. I had been giving him a daily charcoal biscuit which helped. I went back to his old food gradually. He’s still not right and now I’m Wondering if it might have been the collar, which is still in its tin ? My vet wants to see him again but I know the next stage is lots of very expensive tests and at his great age for his mixed breed I feel there’s no point. He has reached the full life expectancy for a GSD and has definitely slowed down in every other respect so I am putting it down to old age and giving him a quiet life with a short daily walk in case he collapses out in a place where it would be hard for us to pick him up – and as many hours in our large deer-free back garden as he chooses. I’ve been feeding him rice and chicken and his poop is firmer but still rather yellow. I’ve also cut down his night treat of a Dentatix chew as the vet says they are full of fat and maybe he can no longer process fat? The deer season starts up again next month but I think I will go back to our old regime and leave that collar in its tin.
Not being able to handle fat usually means liver problems, as does the yellow poop. There are medications the vet could prescribe to help with it. But I know it’s so expensive to get the tests done before they will prescribe anything. I think the rice and chicken is a good low fat diet. I hope he feels better soon, take care
My ridgeback hound mix was having seizers started about a year ago. this was after his second Seresto collar. Did not know what was causing the problem. The vet prescribed seizure medicine but after several months had no results. I thought it might have been pain so we got pain medicine. No help. The seizures were increasing and the only thing different were the collars. I heard some ware that the might cause reactions in some dogs so I removed it. Slowly the seizers were less frequent and now rare. However not completely gone. A loud noise or alarm can sometimes set them off. To me it seems his nerves are effected. I don’t know if this problem was caused by the collar. But he much better since I removed it.
Put the Seresto on my 6 month old GSP, my other 2 dogs have Scalibor and pet shop said Seresto was better. Yesterday woke to him drooling like a tap was running. Normal in himself but the drooling was non stop. Took to the vets and Xray, bloods etc and nothing found. Anti sickness jab given and charcoal tablets and watch him overnight. Hes better this am but after reading this, Im putting the collar in the bin. Its not a risk I’m taking for my little Loki and will use Frontline on him instead. Vet called and said maybe best to remove it too! I hate hearing all these awful stories about other dogs suffering when all we want to do is protect them.
I thought the problems with this collar were only concerned with dogs but I needed something for my two cats, one of which is an outdoor cat that had adopted me and was not all that easy to catch. My other cat is an indoor cat being both blind and deaf but I let her out on the porch that is gated and I didn’t want her to pick up any fleas. The collar has worked well on my outdoor cat – ticks and fleas that he had are gone gone gone and no seeming side effects. My indoor cat, however, has started vomiting her food, eating little… she’s just vomited for the second time today and after reading all these comments, I’ve taken the collar off her and thrown it away. I’m considering giving her a bath (I’ve never given a cat a bath before and I rather value my skin) but I want to thank ALL of you for sharing your stories. I know I’ve made the right decision for my little one. I’m going to keep an eye on the outdoor cat but so far, so good. He’s getting friendlier and friendlier so I’m hoping next year I can just do the drops on the back of the neck…
I have used these seresto collars for years on my golden retrievers with no problems until this year! I had a 14 year old and a two year old retriever. Bought the collars and in two months the older dog became sick. Vomiting, not eating, diarrhea. A month later the two year old started with neurological issues. Then would not eat, lost hair, could not walk, etc. Took off the collar and it took a full month for the dog to get back to normal. Our vet did all kinds of testing. Could not find any answers. I also suggested the flea collars could be the problem and it was shrugged off. We really do not know how these collars are made. Could some have more medication than others? Could the medication delivery vary from dog to dog? I myself am pissed off that this company has not stepped forward to provide any answers. The statements that many people are not buying the real seresto collars because they are not purchasing them from their vet is a cop out! I purchased mine at my vets office. I had even read the articles about the collars in question and discussed this before purchasing them. I lost one dog, the vet bills were astronomical, not to mention the suffering these animals have went through!
Girl Boxer Athena 2 1/2 For 2 weeks now Athena, has been vomiting, rash, Trouble walking, she wont eat anything, Husband took Athena to the Doctors and the Doctors said, took her blood, no lime disease but a tick bit her. Gave her medicine sent her home. I am a very unhappy customer. I bought the seresto collar for 8 months period. I can not find my receipt,but it was the 2 Wednesday of March,this year,when I picked it up at Walmart. I came home directly read instructions and then put collar on Max. Before this I was giving him flea meds from his vet. Ok Max is an inside dog. He only goes out for short period thru the day. He stays on leash,for like 10 to 15 minutes,for 2 to 3 times a day. Ok I had the collar on him and he started scratching a lot. I checked him,no ticks or fleas. But from then until now,he scratched all the time. Then yesterday I took collar off of him. I put him in for a bath. As I looked in tub while bathing him I saw 3 or 4 fleas. It hasn’t even been 3 months yet I never got his collar wet,I took very good care of it. But that collar said for 8 months no flea’s. But Max had flea’s and had not been even 3 months. I’m so sorry but that has really let me down,and paying a lot of money. I’m on a fixed income. Again I’m sorry if I mad anyone mad or upset. I’m just telling the truth.
