Do you feel like you just want to curl up in bed the entire day sometimes? Do you miss the comforting feeling of your couch every time you need to take overtimes to finish work?
Well, don’t worry because you are not the only who feels that way. If you have pets like dogs, you are not the only one who misses your favorite pillow or even a blanket. As a matter of fact, even your pet dogs have their own spot in the house too.
If they don’t have their own bed or dog house, you would see them sprawled either on the floor, carpet, couch, or bed. If you are really observant, you can easily tell which their favorite spots are.
However, seeing them sprawled anywhere they seem fit doesn’t mean you should let them. Even dogs need their own bed that can keep them comfortable and warm at night. So, here is a list of things you need to take note when looking for dog beds:
Size
First things first, you have to get the full length of your dogs when they stretch out to get the right size. This is because you have to find a bed that can fit and support the entire body of your dogs.
In addition when picking the right size of dog beds, be sure that it has at least 5” extra space or allowance in length and width. This works better if your dogs have not reached their full size yet.
Construction and fills
Since dogs can be really messy and smelly sometimes, you have to consider the bed construction. Always pick the dog beds that are waterproof for ease of cleaning.
At the same time, its fill should be enough to keep your dogs comfortable even after months or years of use. For instance, some dog beds contain polyfill only while others have a combination of foam and polyfill inside.
There are also baffled beds that are made from sewn fabric tubes that are filled with baffled polyfill. This kind of filling keeps the polyfill from spreading which causes other areas in the bed to flatten.
Design and style
The dog beds’ design matters as well even if you are not that picky. Just like how you usually pick some stuff according to their gender or personality, you should do the same with beds.
Make your dogs feel more special and loved in your humble abode by getting the right design. This includes the color, type of fabric, and style of bed your dog needs.
While you consider the pattern of the bed, don’t forget that dog beds vary in style. For instance, there’s bolster bed, nesting bed, orthopedic bed, mattress-like bed, travel bed, and so much more.
Location of bed
If you prefer to have your dogs bed outside, you should pick the beds that that can withstand environmental hazards. Putting ordinary beds outside that is not meant to be placed there can’t guarantee you a fungus and mold-free bed after a few weeks.
Your dogs might even suffer from various health issues if you let him/her use it continuously.
Outdoor beds are typically made from thicker and more durable materials that are easy to clean. Other outdoor beds even have their own frames for added support to withstand extreme weathers.
Insulation
Aside from the above mentioned things, another thing you should look for dog beds is insulation. Just as you need different clothes during summer and winter, you also need two different beds for your dog.
Even animals could use some an additional heating or cooling during summer and winter. Hence, pick the dog beds that can work as an efficient protective layer between your dogs and the floor or ground.
Price range and quality
Can you afford the perfect bed for your dogs with your budget? Though you may be tempted to pick the cheapest one on the list, take note that the quality matters too.
If you pick base on the cheapest price, there’s a big chance that it won’t last long. In the end, getting a replacement will just increase your expenses. Hence it is always best to choose dog beds which are set within your set price range without overlooking its quality.
Final Words
Remember that our pets are part of our family as well. You should also treat them with respect and give them the love they deserve. Don’t get crappy beds for your dogs if you yourself can’t stand its quality for your own bed mattress. Give your dogs a place to rest their tired bones comfortably and he/she will repay you in double in any way possible.
